About Dr. Derby

My path into acupuncture began with a deep curiosity about people and their health. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. I was fascinated by how emotional, physical and environmental factors intertwine to shape our health.

I completed my Master’s degree in 2001 and later earned my Doctorate in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in 2007 at The Oregon College of Oriental Medicine.

In 2001, I traveled to NanJing China for an intensive five-week clinical training in a major teaching hospital, where I witnessed Traditional Chinese Medicine practiced alongside Western medicine. I returned to China (Chengdu) in 2007 to deepen my studies. These experiences shaped my belief that Eastern and Western medicine complement one another beautifully.

Over the years, my learning has taken me to Japan to study with a master acupuncturist, to Mexico to volunteer in community settings, and to Hawaii for advanced training.

Clinically, I focus on orthopedics, women’s health, pediatrics and geriatrics. I am especially passionate about supporting people through transitional stages in life - whether recovering from injury, navigating hormonal shifts, supporting children’s developing systems, or promoting vitality in later years.

From 2018 to 2022, I had the privilege of serving as chair of the doctoral clinic and mentoring advanced students.

Outside the clinic, I cherish time with my ever growing family and participating in ballet, travel, outdoor activities, reading and meditation.

Every patient brings a unique story and it is a privilege to help guide the next chapter toward greater health and vitality.
